First Solo Trip

Written by: Cautiously Optimistic 3/31/2006 7:52:11 AM
Hi All....I've been reading the blogs and some have been hilariously funny, others informative, and still more have made me think about my decision to take my first solo trip.

I just turned 41, I'm coming to terms have with the fact that I'm no longer in a relationship (5 years off and on), and that I no longer have a travel partner. I have vacationed and/or traveled to many different countries, but always with a group or a significant other. Traveleing to a new destination does not bother me, it's the single woman thing that has me a bit skittish! I know I should "go forth and enjoy", but that's a lot easier said than done!

So, I'm taking the plunge. I went on line and rented a nice condo from an owner in Cabo San Lucas for two weeks in September that's located on a beautiful stretch of beach that's not in the city. This way I can relax in peace and quiet and hang out at the resort's pools. Who knows, I might even meet a nice stranger! With September six months away, I also bought my plane ticket to keep myself from backing out. You can't be too careful........

Anyone have any advice on how not to be too lonely or feel obviously single.......I always carry books and music when I travel and I'm usually pretty good with having conversations with strangers, but September is still a ways off. I just might need your support to make sure I make it on that plane!
