Hotel Confessions Survey

A severed finger, marijuana, false teeth and an “intimacy aid” were among the bizarre objects found left in hotel rooms by respondents to a new survey by Kayak.com. The world’s largest travel search engine polled 1,141 travelers, who shared naughty hotel confessions that would make the bellhop blush.

Sixty-six percent of respondents say they have booked a hotel room purely for a romantic rendezvous and more than 1 in 4 say that being in a hotel room makes them feel randy. At what stage in a relationship is it OK to check-in together for an intimate weekend? Forty-five percent of respondents said after just three months, while a more cautious 27% would wait six months before sneaking away with a significant other. Only 9% have ever booked a hotel room by the hour.

Globetrotting celebrity couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were the most desired hotel roommates for nearly 58% of respondents. Super Bowl/ Supermodel duo Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen came in a distant second with less than 19%. Rockers Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stefani were the "it" hotel roommates for about 16% of respondents. Only 8% chose bootylicious Jay-Z and Beyonce as their ideal vacation partners. 

U.S. travelers are not quite as naughty when it comes to helping themselves to souvenirs before checking out. While 70% admitted to taking toiletries, very few took anything else from a hotel room and only 4% admitted to swiping those nice and fluffy hotel towels. More than 66% agree that the minibar is too expensive to utilize but for those that do, liquor was the most popular purchase with 13% followed by something sweet at 12% and something salty with 8% of the munchies. 

When asked for the strangest thing found in a hotel room, the most frequent responses included other people (in various states of undress), bugs, toenail clippings, used prophylactics, pot, porn and poop. Believe it or not, more than one Kayaker found a prosthetic leg, severed finger and false teeth. Here are other unique finds:

The Silly· male wig, beer-filled tub, piece of meat under the sheets, waxed lips

The Living: tarantula, hotel security guard asleep on the bed, 12-inch lizard, raccoon

The Saucy: vibrating intimacy aid, pair of men’s tighty whiteys, broken leather whip, body massage oil

The Sinister: dead body, joint hidden in a bible, bullet holes and scorch marks in pillow cases, gun
